I further investigated the concept of tame vs. wild in this linoleum cut/book arts project where I explored mental illness in visual terms. The walking figure remains unaware that a tortured embodiment of some internal state is birthing itself into her external world until the last “frame,” where she is finally confronted by this second figure. The staccato visual rhythm of their bodies moving through space comes to a halt at the climax of this newly externalized struggle, and the rest of the book/composition plane is empty space, leaving the potential outcome of the figures’ confrontation open-ended.
